George C. Cook photograph collection. 1917-1919.

Contains the following types of materials: photographs, post cards, documents, clippings, sketches. Covers the following war: World War I (WWI). General description of the collection: The George C. Cook photograph collection includes two oversize scrapbooks. These books chronologically cover the World War I service of Major Cook. Although there are several photos and sketches of Major Cook and his friends, the vast majority of the photos are picture postcards of places he visited in England and Germany, but primarily in France. The scrapbooks also include many pieces of correspondence, official documents, newspaper articles and paper souvenirs. There are a few photos in book 2 which show battlefield views and destroyed French towns and villages. These albums are a well put together illustrated coverage of a World War I officer's service, but they add very little to the photographic coverage of the war.
